Donkey Gold Lapel Pin

Donkeys were first domesticated around 6,000 years ago in North Africa and Egypt for meat and milk. They also came to be a symbol for the democratic party.  The origins of the Democratic donkey can be traced to the 1828 presidential campaign of Andrew Jackson.  During that race, opponents of Jackson called him a jackass. Rather than rejecting the label, Jackson was amused by it and included an image of the animal in his campaign posters.  Our donkey pin is hand cast in solid, lead-free pewter and then dipped in 22K gold.  Our farm animal pins have a US made, military style clasp back to keep it secure on a coat, hat, or bag.  Our democrat pins arrive packaged on our signature presentation card, making them ready for gift-giving!
