Stitch Ducks and Daffs, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a white Aylesbury duck and a green-headed mallard drake stand among bright yellow daffodils.

A little stitcher's folklore: Wordsworth's famous 'host of golden daffodils' was inspired by a walk along Ullswater with his sister Dorothy in April 1802.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs, it is stitched on Aida printed with Bothy Threads' exclusive speckled background, so the soft Wrendale look is ready-made.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, needles and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, occasional fractionals and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the ducks and flowers in cross stitch from the centre of the chart, add fractionals where shown, then the outlines in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A cheerful spring piece for a kitchen or hallway.
