Stitch Festive Friends, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a stag stands calmly while three robins perch on his antlers and one sits on his nose.

A little stitcher's folklore: robins were once called 'redbreasts', and only gained the friendly name Robin in the fifteenth century.

Why this kit: from Bothy Threads' long-running Wrendale Designs range by Hannah Dale, it matches the rest of the collection if you want to build a gallery wall.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the stag and robins in cross stitch from the centre, then add the antlers in back stitch and the French knots.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A festive piece for the Christmas season.
