Stitch Ladybird in the Meadow, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a sheep peeps over a meadow of pink and red flowers under a streaky blue and pink sky.

A little stitcher's folklore: the ladybird is named after 'Our Lady', the Virgin Mary, and its red wings were said to be her cloak.

Why this kit: based on original artwork by Lucy Pittaway, the UK's most popular published artist in 2022, it is full of her bold colour.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the sky in cross stitch from the centre, then the meadow and sheep, and add back stitch and French knots.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A bright summer piece for a sunny wall.
