Stitch Midnight Moongazer, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a hare gazes up at a full moon through a frosty wood framed by red berries and robins.

A little stitcher's folklore: moon-gazing hares appear in folklore across Britain and Asia, where people see a hare, not a man, in the moon.

Why this kit: based on original artwork by Jane Sunner, it is stitched on colour-printed Aida with metallic threads, so the night sky is already glowing.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida with a colour-printed background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic thread, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch, fractionals, lazy daisies and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the hare and berries in cross stitch from the centre, add fractionals, then the lazy daisies, back stitch and French knots.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A magical winter piece from the Autumn 2025 Collection.
