Stitch My Garden, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a ring of garden tools, watering cans, flower pots, wellies and robins surrounds a personalised garden name.

A little stitcher's folklore: the first garden gnome came to Britain in 1847, when Sir Charles Isham brought a set from Germany to Lamport Hall.

Why this kit: designed by Helen Smith, it includes an alphabet and number line to add a name and date, and is sized to display in a 17.5 cm hoop.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions with an alphabet and number line for personalising. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and French knots. The hoop shown is not included.

Stitch the border in cross stitch, chart your own name from the alphabet, then add the outlines in back stitch and the French knots.

Finished size: 17.5 cm round (6.9 in). A personalised gift for a keen gardener.
